You might have a better hookset with a single hook AT TIMES, but your going to get more chances to set the hook with the treble. WIth fish like tuna, they set the hook themselves so the hooks get buried the same way regarless of a treble or single.Typical fill level is 1/16' ( 1.5mm) from the lip. more experienced fill a bit higher, but always just below the lip. I've caught a hundred BFT in my last 4 trips, caught 3 small YFT, lost 2 good YFT, and lost one that surely would have been my personal best after 45 minutes and multiple handoffs. BH sent us Prototype giant standup rod on the Excel trip and Shin tested the rod. It is very stiff rod. It might need softened tip. .
